As we consider the way forward after our Summer Celebration, our purpose remains the same: forming followers of Jesus who impact their world. We have been talking together about next steps after these five weeks with no Study Groups and one worship service. They have been good weeks of special celebration … an outdoor baptism service, a cook out to follow up Extreme Camp, testimonies, a church wide fellowship meal. Along the way the elders have been listening to your thoughts and also investing time in prayer and discussion. One thing we have concluded: our mission has not changed.
In October 2009 we launched a second worship service in order reach more people for Christ, that is, to have ample room in the auditorium to welcome new folks we are reaching and God is bringing. And over the past 5-6 months we have seen an increase in attendance.
We want to continue focusing on reaching more people for Christ. We want to pursue that goal in part by continuing to offer two worship services. However, at the present we are facing some ministry staffing needs which are pressing. While we pray for God’s provision and while we work to meet those needs, we will offer one worship service at 10:15 a.m., preceded by Study Groups at 9:00. When the needs are met we will resume two worship services.
Our way forward is certainly a family effort. Each of us has a role to fill in God’s mission for us. The sermon series for September will explore this: “God’s Plan, Our Place—Walking in Step with God.” As we partner together in the name of Jesus and in the power of God’s Spirit, who knows what God may be pleased to do in and through us for His glory?
Let us make ourselves available, praying, “Lord, I am Your servant. Use me.”
