      Outreach Team

The Outreach Team meets monthly to provide opportunities for local community outreach and then mobilizes people to participate in the efforts. We have developed several awesome opportunities for you, as an individual, or family, or Life Group to participate in as we take the Gospel into our community.

      Training and Equipping

      Missions & Missions Lead Team

The Missions Lead Team meets monthly to help others increase their knowledge and understanding of missions, to help instill within others a desire for mission work, and to support the followers of Jesus Christ as they impact their world.
The Missions Lead Team plans and oversees projects and activities that strengthen missions within the church. They plan and oversee “Moments for Missions”–a monthly highlight of a missionary/mission organization during the worship service. They inform the church of the work or needs or prayer requests of the missionaries we support. They also communicate with missionaries on the field.

      Missionary Spotlight

      Bruce and Marti Brumfield…

Are our AWANA missionaries and September and October were busy months for them.  Please read their update letter below:

      Dear Friends,

September was a full month! Bruce spent nearly 2 weeks in Tennessee, making connections with several churches he serves there, which included club visits, leader training, Awana presentation and meeting with people. During that time Marti was at home working on details for upcoming Awana Ministry Conferences, confirming workshop presenters and finalizing a myriad of details.

Shortly after Bruce returned home, we made a weekend trip to Gulf Shores, AL, for our daughter’s wedding on the 22nd, then brought our grandson home with us for a visit. He flew home to Atlanta at the end of the week, and we immediately did final preparations for the Rockford Awana Ministry Conference on Saturday the 29th.

In spite of the whirlwind leading up to that conference, we recognize that God was at work. We were excited to have leaders attend from nine churches, some who have not previously attended conferences. One of the highlights was learning about Tutoring Clubs—a very active ministry in Rockford that is providing hope and help to students. Our host church was generous and supportive. Workshop leaders were excited about the material they were presenting and were deeply engaged with their audience. Leaders who attended had a positive spirit, desire to learn, and seemed to enjoy participating in discussions. Ministry opportunities were many—some during planned sessions, but also during conversations with attendees.

October brings the final leader training conference in our area, invitations to speak at clubs and church Sunday services and connections with some of our supporting churches. We’re also resuming club drop-in visits—short times of connection with as many clubs as possible just to show we care and learn of ways we can support or pray for them.

In 3 John 1:4 the Apostle John wrote: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” Most of the time we have little idea of what our influence may have been, but occasionally it happens, and when it does we are reminded of why we serve the Lord. It’s a joy when you get a snapshot into the lives of those you have ministered to and learn that something you said or did made a difference. The Lord allowed us to see several of those snapshots as we talked to leaders at conferences this year. Will you join us in prayer that the many connections made in recent weeks will also provide help and encouragement to Awana leaders as they serve.

Thank you for your love, support and prayers.

      Prayer Requests:

      • For new clubs that have recently started or will soon. Pray that the Lord will bless the leaders for their efforts to reach and disciple kids.
      •  For our upcoming conference on October 13 (Lake Villa). We’re looking forward to what God will do! Pray that Awana leaders will be encouraged and learn helpful skills.
      •  Ministry finances—the current cycle seems to have one strong month each quarter, but two months with significant shortfalls. Pray that the Lord will lay it on hearts to give on a regular basis or special gifts.
