Journey Congregational Survey
Thank you for completing the Journey Congregational Survey. We received more surveys than we anticipated – the response was exceptional.
Much appreciation to you from the search committee and the elders.
There is clear direction & unity amongst the church body – that is exciting to see.
The survey results were the final piece that we needed to complete all of interview materials – from writing the employment ads to the verbiage of the interview questions. (Thank you for you help!)
Your survey responses help the committee to accurately represent what our congregation is looking for in our next pastor and guides us through our interviewing & due diligence process.
We look forward to sharing the survey specifics with you, our church body, once the new pastor is hired. If any of the survey material were to make it in the hands of any candidate interviewing with us, it will taint the complete interview process.
The open pastor position will be advertised. As responses are submitted, the committee will consider which candidates to then interview.
After placing the ads and reviewing responses, interviews with candidates will begin.
• The committee and the due diligence necessary for us to properly represent our congregation and to effectively interview the candidates that God sends our way.

• August 22nd – There will be a time allocated for you to complete the survey
• August 29th – Those absent on the 22nd can complete the survey
• Sept. 5th is the last day to turn in survey

• Needs pertaining to you personally at the present
• Attributes of your future pastor
• Attributes related to preaching style and sermon content
• Pastor job responsibilities

The Journey Pastor Search Committee (JSC) team is up and running and is making good progress. Our committee has established that there are 6 Primary Phases in the process of interviewing, selecting and hiring our new pastor.
1. Organize Committee
Get the committee up and running, assign roles, set the structure, etc. All of this work is complete.
2. Information Development
Building a congregational survey, designing our pastor ad, compiling information on our church and our community and then placing the ad in the right places to get the right candidates. We are currently in this phase.
3. Prep to Meet Candidates
Developing the pastor questionnaire, set the interview structure, build the questions and establish exactly how we will evaluate candidate responses.
4. Meeting & Interviewing Candidates
The process of selecting candidates that could be a good fit, reaching out to them and having the initial interviews.
5. Get to Know the Candidates
Some candidates will be one interview and done, but others will start into a path of in-person interviews, reference & background checks, with some moving forward to visiting our church and doing sermons.
6. Offer and Acceptance
The final phase where Journey Church makes the candidate an offer and the details of their move are worked out.
Our committee is made up of 12 – Andrew Eslick, Isaac Decker, Joy Lower, Dennis Lauver, Ann Reed, Micah Cewe, Scott Smith, Jeremiah Haas, Marybeth Giddings, Wendy Yoder, Nate Eslick, and Breton Williams.
Our committee meets every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month and is currently working in Phase 2, wrapping up the details of the congregational survey. The purpose of the congregational survey is to provide us with useful information about what the congregation needs, and to get your input about the pastoral attributes our church body may be looking for. We are making great progress on our survey and hope to have it in your hands in 4 weeks. When you receive our survey, please know that your feedback is critical.
We ask that you please pray for the committee, for the pastor God has already selected for our church and for the church body.
Look for updates from our committee in the newsletter, from the pulpit, and periodically in the church bulletin. We plan to soon have information on the church website and Facebook page.
