        On the Move

        150 150 Journey Church

On January 26, we began a new sermon series from the book of Acts. In this fifth book of the New Testament, Dr. Luke records what God’s Holy Spirit did through the apostles of Jesus after Jesus ascended back to heaven. It is the story of what Jesus continued to do through His followers, and that story has not ended!

Jesus is still doing His work through His people. Around the world believers in Jesus are proclaiming the Good News about Jesus. God’s Holy Spirit powerfully works in and through this ministry of the Word to bring salvation and expand the Church. Indeed, just as in the world of the Apostles Peter, James, and Paul, the Church of Jesus today is on the move. Our denominational district, EFCA Central District, sees brand new churches started every year. On an even larger scale, explosive church growth is taking place in Africa and Asia.

Our desire in listening to God through the book of Acts is to understand how He wants Clinton Evangelical Free Church to be on the move for Jesus and then get on board!

Would you like to add value to your experience of our sermon series in Acts? Prayerfully read the sermon passage during the week before that passage is preached. Think about what you read and pray that God’s Spirit will powerfully work in you and in our church through God’s Word. Here is the schedule of passages for February:

        • February 2—Acts 1:12-26
        • February 9—2 Kings 18:1-7
        • February 16—Acts 2:1-47
        • February 23—Acts 3:1-4:31

God’s Word is on the move. God’s Spirit is on the move. God’s people are on the move. The Church is on the move. Jesus Himself said, “I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
